The choice of songs is super. I was looking for a basic collection of American songs and I am really glad I stumbled on this one. These CDs are excellent if you want to introduce little kids to classic songs and they don't wear after repeated replaying. There are many newer kids' CDs out there by fine musicians but some of them are a little too artistical or experimental, whereas these will never grate. There is no Disney marketing aside from Mickey Mouse on the cover. The arrangements are classic and tasteful -- it's mostly a pleasant tenor with musical accompaniment and sometimes backup singers.
Were it not for this Disney library, one might have to spend a small fortune buying CDs and sorting through chaff and duplicates to build a collection this complete. And while Larry Groce's voice may not be the most impressive, it's quite listenable and well-suited to the material and I have no complaints. And how can you beat the price.
It's just impossible to go wrong with Disney's Children's Favorite Songs. At six bucks a disc, this four-volume set will set you back less than many single-volume albums.
Gushing is not my style, but for the four-volume Disney Children's Favorite Songs I can't think of enough superlatives: comprehensive, well-performed and -produced, and inexpensive to boot. Buy this collection and you may never need to buy another.Production quality is what one would expect from Disney: the children's choir is well-trained and well-rehearsed, and the arrangements are more than enjoyable.
Wish I could give more than five stars. What's not to like. The problem with children's song collections is it's so hard to find what you want, and only what you want.
I'm hard-pressed, in fact, to think of a popular children's tune that isn't here.
But I bought this CD to play in the car and at home daily. I'm more conservative but I'm sure there are other parents out there that are like me. I know "heck" is not a bad word, per se, but it's not one that I want my toddler hearing, saying or singing regularly. And you know how kids like having their favorite CD played ALL the time. I wish I knew this before I bought the CD and played it to my child. One of the songs contain the word "heck." If you're okay with that, then this is a fun cd with a good collection of songs.
Still sounds great. I bought this for my kids because I remember having it when I was their age.
I thought it would be more filled with character fun. the songs on here are nice, but average.
